Photo Stream
Hello, friends!
As most of you know I got off Instagram about a year and a half ago for personal privacy reasons. It has been an overall very good thing for my wellbeing and sense of online safety– something that I recommend everyone do honestly– but of course the downside is that the sharing of my ongoing photography practice outside of major projects came to a halt upon my departure. Say what you will about Instagram, and goddesses know I have said a lot myself, but it's hard to dispute how convenient it is for getting photography out there for people to see and enjoy with ease.
I have recently ramped up my photography again and this got me itching to find ways to share it once again without turning to the major surveillance platforms like Instagram. I enjoy sharing my photography with friends and others, even when I am not working on a major body of work with a specific focus, and miss having it out there and readily available for viewing. What I have decided on for now is to make a gallery page on my main website where I can upload recent photo highlights. It's a limited solution since it requires people to actually go to the webpage to view instead of pushing to a social feed, but it's better than nothing and at the very least it'll make me happy knowing that there is some way of my photography to be viewed again.
Long term I would like to find a more practical and seamless solution for photo sharing (send me suggestions if you have them), especially since Squarespace's photo gallery functionality is woefully clunky and limited, but for now I am going to try this out. I might also do occasional highlight posts here on the blog showcasing my favorites from recent months and/or do more photography-oriented narrative posts in general at some point. I promise I won't blow up your inboxes too much, though! Any feedback would be appreciated!
